Neal Fowler to deliver Spring Commencement address

Pharm ‘84, M.B.A. ‘88, as the 2024 Commencement speaker.  “I cannot adequately express my excitement and appreciation in being asked to deliver the spring commencement address,” said Fowler. “The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy laid the groundwork for my career in life science. Erin Heinzen granted tenure in DPET

Erin Heinzen, Pharm.D., Ph.D., associate professor in the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics (DPET) at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, has been granted tenure. She also holds a joint appointment in the UNC Department of Genetics.  “Tenure is a great honor to receive. Utilizing AI and machine learning for drug discovery

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy hosted a roundtable in Aurora, Colorado on July 21 with a focus on transforming community-based pharmacy practice. Meet the Expert: Kathleen Thomas

The warm smile on the face of Kathleen Thomas, Ph.D., M.P.H., is the first indication of the empathy she brings to her work. Though so much of her day-to-day involves working with data sets, Kathleen always keeps the people behind the numbers at the forefront of her mind. Student-led patient care impacts underserved communities

UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy students are helping improve health outcomes for underserved members of North Carolina communities through the Student Health Action Coalition (SHAC), which gives students the opportunity to provide care for vulnerable, underinsured, uninsured, as well as homeless patients.   SHAC is an award-winning organization that previously won the national Student Community Engaged Service Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). Serving our State through the Tar Heel Bus Tour

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy received two Tar Heel Bus Tour grants that support research projects addressing some of the health care needs of North Carolinians.  The purpose of the grants is to foster collaborative research stemming from ideas or conversations that occurred as a result of the 2019 and 2022 Tar Heel Bus Tours.   One grant will help educate underserved youth in rural communities about various health issues, and the other will help develop training for pharmacists to help reduce opioid overdose deaths.   After a 10-year break, Chancellor Kevin M.
