Professor Craig Lee named chair of Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics

Professor Craig R. Lee, Pharm.D., Ph.D., has been named the new Chair of the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics (DPET) at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, effective August 1, 2022. Lee is currently a professor and the vice chair for research and graduate education in DPET. He is an alumnus of the School’s Pharm.D. and Ph.D. programs, is a licensed pharmacist in North Carolina, and is a fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the American Heart Association. PharmD candidate aims to advance patient healthcare in space, receives scholarship from Aerospace Medical Association

Tom Diaz is fascinated by space. The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Pharm.D. student is specifically curious about the thought of medicine in space. His mind is often pondering how medication dosing may be different for astronauts, and how medications may be altered in little gravity. “It fascinates me that human physiology is significantly altered in a microgravity environment. Research in Education and Practice Symposium combines 250 attendees to evaluate research, collaborate

More than 250 individuals, including pharmacy residents, fellows, graduate students, preceptors, residency program directors and faculty members, attended the 2022 Research in Education and Practice Symposium (REPS). Division of Pharmacoengineering and Molecular Pharmaceutics faculty members receive Controlled Release Society Awards, recognition

UNC-Chapel Hill receives $65M from NIH for antiviral drug development center

The new center will develop antivirals that could combat future pandemic-level viruses The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health awarded the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health a $65 million grant establishing an Antiviral Drug Discovery Center to develop oral antivirals that can combat pandemic-level viruses like COVID-19. Pharm.D. Research and Scholarship in Pharmacy students present research to peers, faculty

Third-year Pharm.D. students in the Research and Scholarship in Pharmacy (RASP) pathway presented their research findings to peers, faculty and staff members of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy on April 22. This year, the School also welcomed Dianne Kapherr, a ’84 alumna, to view the student presentations. School creates early assurance program partnership with University of North Carolina Asheville

Enrolled and incoming University of North Carolina Asheville (UNCA) students who express interest in pursuing a doctoral degree in pharmacy may now be eligible for assured admission to the Pharm.D. program at the University of North Carolina’s Eshelman School of Pharmacy. An Early Assurance Program (EAP) partnership between the two institutions was signed in March.
