More than 250 individuals, including pharmacy residents, fellows, graduate students, preceptors, residency program directors and faculty members, attended the 2022 Research in Education and Practice Symposium (REPS).
The ninth annual event held May 16-17, at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy’s Kerr Hall, gave trainees the chance to receive high-level feedback on their work and to also network with other practitioners across the southeast.
“After two years in a virtual environment due to COVID-19, we were delighted to convene in-person where we could network and collaborate to continue advancing the field of pharmacy,” said Stephen Eckel, Pharm.D., M.H.A., who leads the REPS planning committee.
Participants represented more than five states and attended both in-person and virtually. Research topics ranged from ambulatory care and infectious diseases to critical care, oncology, pediatrics, and pharmacotherapy, among others.
“UNC REPS was an awesome opportunity to reconnect with former classmates and make new connections with residents from other programs. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and hearing about all the great work residents have done this year on their projects,” said participant Donna Steinbacher, Pharm.D., UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy alum and University of Virginia pharmacy resident.
UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Associate Dean of Organizational Diversity and Inclusion Carla White, BS Pharm, delivered the keynote address titled, “Seven Strategies to Inspire Organizational DEI.”
In addition to research, professional development sessions were also offered and ranged in topic from financial planning and residency accreditation updates, to using social media for professional advancement.
