The Carolina Nanoformulation Workshop (CNW) is a unique training event hosted by the UNC Center for Nanotechnology in Drug Delivery (CNDD). CNW 2020 will focus on the following:

  • Nanoparticles as immune response modulators in cancer immunotherapy and vaccines

  • Approaches for selective targeted delivery

  • State of the art characterization techniques

  • Translational examples

  • Regulatory requirements

  • Optional two-day hands-on practical training

    • Synthesis and characterization of drug loaded and antigen presenting nanoparticles

    • Advanced characterization techniques by ZetaView nanoparticle tracking analysis

The workshop will be a combination of lecture blocks and hands on practical training and discussions in the Center for Nanotechnology in Drug Delivery research laboratories at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Past Events

The main focus of the workshop was applications of nanomedicine, lipid based nanoparticles (both synthetic and cell derived), as well as advanced in vitro characterization. The topics were presented by 20 speakers from academia and industry followed by 2 days of laboratory with hands on experience on liposomes and exosomes manufacturing, drug loading and characterization. CNW 2018 took place from March 12-16, 2018.

The main focus of the workshop was cargo/carrier selection, polymers for drug delivery, self assembling techniques for continuous flow manufacturing of nanoparticles, and clinical and regulatory considerations. The topics were presented by 18 speakers from academia and industry followed by 2 days of laboratory with hands on experience on nanofluidics and rapid-mixing techniques for nanoparticle manufacturing. CNW 2017 took place from March 13-17, 2017.
