Nithya Srinivas receives ASCPT Presidential Trainee Award

Nithya Srinivas, a Ph.D. student in the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, has been awarded a 2016 Presidential Trainee Award through the American Society of Clinical Pharmacology Therapeutics. The award recognizes her abstract, “Antiretroviral Drug Exposure in Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) as a Predictor of Neurocognitive Outcomes in HIV Infected Patients,” and indicates it received a top score when compared to other project submitted by clinical pharmacologists in training. Rhoney, Rodgers Receive ACCP Practice and Research Networks Awards

Amber Proctor Joins School in First DPET Position Shared with UNC Hospitals

Amber Proctor, Pharm.D., has joined the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy as one of the newest members of the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapy. Proctor’s appointment is cofunded by UNC Hospitals, where she will also act as a clinical oncology specialist in thoracic oncology. Daniel Crona to Join DPET as Assistant Professor

Daniel Crona, Pharm.D., Ph.D., will join the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy as a tenure-track assistant professor on October 1. Crona will also have an appointment at the North Carolina Cancer Hospital where he will work as a clinical pharmacist specialist in genitourinary oncology. Crona’s research has focused on identifying and validating novel genetic variants associated with survival in patients with advanced or metastatic kidney cancer. School Wins TBJ Life Sciences Award for Chemo-Cleaning Wipe

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy received a 2015 BDO Life Sciences Award from the Triangle Business Journal on May 21 in the category of outstanding research university. The School won for the work of William Zamboni, PharmD, PhD, and Stephen Eckel, PharmD, MHA, in developing wipe kits that detect and remove hazardous residue left on surfaces from the preparation of chemotherapy drugs. Internationally known AIDS and HIV researcher Angela Kashuba, PharmD, has been appointed chair of the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Kashuba succeeds Kim Brouwer, PharmD, PhD, who has been named associate dean of research and graduate education at the School. Kashuba, is the School’s John A. and Deborah S. Angela Kashuba, PharmD, the John A. and Deborah S. McNeill Jr. Distinguished Professor, will succeed Brouwer as chair of the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics.
