School’s Student Senate president creates Pharmacy Student Leaders Network, unites pharmacy school students from around nation

Before COVID-19 forced millions into lockdown and caused students and educators to rethink the classroom, UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Student Senate President Christopher Parish rushed to connect with other student pharmacy leaders, knowing each would need support during the pandemic. The monthly collaboration, called the Pharmacy Student Leaders Network (PSLN), started in June 2020 and has been held every month since. Jackie Zeeman honored with AACP New Investigator Award, second of its kind in her career

Stephen Frye receives Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award, tops $2 million, supports small molecule research to identify new approaches to modulating drug targets

Each day, Stephen Frye, Ph.D., works to identify pharmacologic approaches to intervene in novel drug targets within the human body with the goal of creating new therapeutic interventions that will directly aid patients. Today, he’s pushing his work further with the support of a prestigious Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award, a mechanism that aims to enhance investigator scientific productivity and the chances for important breakthroughs. UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy achieves highest residency match rate in US among schools with 50+ matching

March 22, 2021

Pharm.D. students from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy achieved the highest American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) PGY1 residency match rate among schools of pharmacy in the U.S. with 50 or more students matching with a residency program in round one. Of the 77 UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy students who submitted a rank list, 75.5% matched with a PY1 residency program. Students matched with a residency in 22 states.
