Pharm.D. students from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy achieved the highest American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) PGY1 residency match rate among schools of pharmacy in the U.S. with 50 or more students matching with a residency program in round one.

Of the 77 UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy students who submitted a rank list, 75.5% matched with a PY1 residency program. Students matched with a residency in 22 states.

The national match rate average for all schools of pharmacy in the U.S. was 63.5%.

“We are thrilled for our students as they continue to be top candidates for residency programs across the country – this speaks volumes to their dedication to advancing health care at home in North Carolina and beyond,” said Angela Kashuba, dean of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. “We are so excited to see how these opportunities advance their careers and continue to prepare them to be tomorrow’s heath care leaders.”
