Researchers List Drugs that Increase Falling Risk
July 9, 2008Researchers at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy have created a list of prescription drugs that increase the risk of falling for patients aged sixty-five and older who take four or more medications on a regular basis. “Falls are the leading cause of both fatal and nonfatal injuries for adults sixty-five and older, and research suggests that those taking four or more medications are at an even greater risk than those who don’t—perhaps two to three times greater,” says Susan Blalock, PhD, principal investigator of the study and an associate professor at the School. “What we’ve done as part of … Read more
K. H. Lee Honored with Named Professorship
May 14, 2008The Pharmacy Foundation of North Carolina has established an endowed professorship in honor of K. H. Lee, PhD, the long-time Kenan Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the UNC School of Pharmacy. High School Students Explore Pharmaceutical Research at UNC
December 14, 2005This summer, Courtney Fox and May Liu have access to the School of Pharmacy ‘s world-class research facilities and resources, usually available only to UNC graduate students and professors. The School of Pharmacy has welcomed two high school students into its labs for the summer.
