McClurg Named Executive Vice Dean of Academic Affairs

Mary Roth McClurg, Pharm.D., M.H.S., has been named to the new position of executive vice dean for academic affairs at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Interim Dean Dhiren Thakker, Ph.D., appointed Roth McClurg to the post on March 1. Young Innovators Program Receives Burroughs Wellcome Fund Award

The Young Innovators Program, the Eshelman Institute of Innovation’s immersive research experiential program for high school students, has been awarded the Burroughs Wellcome Fund’s Student Science Enrichment Program Award of $180,000 over three years. The SSEP’s primary goal is to enable high school students to participate in creative, hands-on scientific activities and pursue inquiry-based exploration in BWF’s home state of North Carolina. YIP was launched in 2016 as part of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy’s effort to broaden its outreach and diversity. UNC Pharmacy Receives $2.4 Million from ACCP to Study Comprehensive Medication Management

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been awarded a $2.4 million grant from the American College of Clinical Pharmacy to study the implementation of comprehensive medication management in primary-care medical practices to improve results for patients. Comprehensive medication management focuses on patients and all the medications they are taking. Each medication is regularly assessed for appropriateness, effectiveness, safety and convenience.
