CIPhER Friday Seminar – “Mixed Methods: Combining Quantitative and Qualitative Data”

March 23, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 2:50 pm

Jacqui McLaughlin, Ph.D., Director, Education Research & Scholarship, CIPhER

Antonio Bush, Ph.D., Assistant Director, Office of Strategic Planning and Assessment

Mixed methods research combines quantitative and qualitative data. Using mixed methods research may provide a more accurate and comprehensive reflection of educational experiences and outcomes across the span of pharmacy, including but not limited to admissions, experiential education, and educator development. Expanding our research toolkits to include multiple approaches to collecting, analyzing, and applying various types of data is likely to strengthen educational research in pharmacy education and broaden our impact across the health professions. At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to define various types of mixed methods research, identify opportunities for mixed methods in their own research, and understand the implications and limitations of this approach.

Registration Deadline:  Tuesday, Mar. 20, at 5 p.m.
