Professor Fred Eckel will receive an honorary doctor of science in recognition of his contributions to the pharmacy profession from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia at the university’s commencement ceremonies on May 20. Eckel is a 1961 graduate of USP. According to the USP announcement, Eckel “has been a strong advocate for the university and dedicated to the advancement of pharmacy, as well as an inspiration to pharmacists throughout the nation.”
The other degree recipients are
- Britton Chance, PhD, a professor emeritus in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at University of Pennsylvania.
- Marilyn Moffat, PT, PhD, professor of physical therapy at New York University, and president of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy.
Eckel is a member of the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Experiential Education.
