The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy held its annual Carolina Pharmacy Leadership, Excellence, And Development (LEAD) program with four sessions in June in Chapel Hill and Elizabeth City. The LEAD program is a one-day preparatory and professional development program geared toward underserved and underrepresented students who are interested in exploring a career in pharmacy and learning how to be competitive in the pharmacy-school admissions process. Attendees got a chance to talk to School students and faculty and industry representatives, got tips on preparing for interviews, and took part in breakout sessions focusing on topics such as special dosage forms, smoking cessation, and the nutritional value of energy drinks.
