UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Ceremony Information
Do guests need a ticket for the commencement ceremony in Memorial Hall?
Yes. Each guest must present a ticket in order to enter Memorial Hall. Each student has been allotted a certain number tickets for the ceremony. *Number of tickets is determined by number of graduation participants and subject to change. An official number will be conveyed to graduates in March.

What if I do not receive enough tickets for all of my guests?
Guests who wish to attend commencement but did not receive a ticket may watch the ceremony live on a large screen in Gerrard Hall, located next to Memorial Hall. Tickets are not required for entrance into Gerrard Hall. All seating in Gerrard is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If on the day of the event, there are “no shows” in Memorial Hall, guests in Gerrard will be invited to take the short walk over to Memorial and secure a seat.

Where should we park?
We suggest that attendees use the public parking at Venable Lot and the Chapel Hill public parking lots. All parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is another event in Memorial Hall before the School’s commencement ceremony, so please allow ample time for parking and walking. For directions and parking information, please visit http://www.carolinaperformingarts.org/getting-here.

What time should my guests arrive?
Guests will not be able to enter Memorial Hall until 3:30 p.m. because another commencement ceremony is being held there before the School’s ceremony. However, please do allow ample time to park and walk from your parking area to the ceremony, as traffic will be heavier than normal that day.

May guests videotape or take photos during the ceremony?
Yes, but only from their seats. Guests cannot obstruct the stairs or walkways and cannot have cameras on tripods that block the view of other guests. Professional photographers will take a class photo as well as a photo of each graduate receiving his or her diploma. Photo Specialties will send the professional photos to the graduating student via email within forty-eight hours of the ceremony and will also send a proof in the mail.  Information on how to order these photos will be included with the proofs.

May guests accompany their graduate until the ceremony begins?
Graduates need to assemble for the ceremony by 3:00 p.m. and will not be able to rejoin their guests until after the event. There will be student volunteers available to provide directions and answer questions. The Memorial Hall main lobby is on the smaller side, so feel free to meet your guests outside Memorial Hall or in the auditorium after the ceremony since we are the last ceremony that day.

Are there accommodations for disabled attendees?
There will be a drop-off area in front of Memorial Hall for disabled graduates or guests. Guests who are in wheelchairs will be seated in a designated area of Memorial Hall. Please contact Aaron Todd at aaron_todd@unc.edu to reserve this seating. Due to space limitations, we can only permit one family member to accompany each of these guests. Please see a Memorial Hall usher upon entrance.
