Amanda Anne Seyerle, Ph.D., MSPH

Amanda Seyerle, Ph.D., MSPH, is an assistant professor in the Division of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy and faculty with the Carolina Health Informatics Program (CHIP).  Her primary research interests are in understanding the ‘omics of variable drug response and the role of ‘omics and gene-environment interactions in health disparities.  A critical part of this work involves expanding existing genomics research to underserved populations so that policies surrounding personalized medicine are based on more representative samples.

As part of this work, Dr. Seyerle collaborates with the Cohorts for Heart and Aging Research using Genomic Epidemiology (CHARGE) consortium and the Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine (TOPMed) program, which seek to bring together research populations from around the globe and produce quality data that can be used to understand the role genomics and other ‘omics play in human health.

Seyerle has published 11 peer-reviewed articles on the genetics of cardiovascular disease risk factors, pharmacogenomics, and genetic epidemiology methods.  She has presented her work at numerous conferences, including those for the American Heart Association and American Society for Human Genetics.
