The American Pharmacists Association Foundation named PY4 Justin Arnall as the recipient of the 2014 Juan and Esperanza Luna Scholarship as well as a 2013–2014 Student Leadership Award from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

The APhA Foundation Student Scholarship Program recognizes students who invest their time in their school’s APhA-ASP chapter to help shape the future of the profession while managing the demands of a full-time pharmacy curriculum. Applicants are evaluated on their potential to become leaders for the profession of pharmacy, as demonstrated by involvement in school and community activities and academic performance.

The Luna Scholarship was established by Nancy A. Alvarez, PharmD, in 2013 and named in honor of her parents. Alvarez is the assistant dean for experiential education and continuing professional development and a clinical assistant professor at Chapman University School of Pharmacy in Orange, California.

Arnall is also the recipient of one of twelve ASHP 2014 Student Leadership Awards, which recognize students with an interest in pharmacy practice in health-systems who have demonstrated leadership ability. The award consists of:

  • An award plaque,
  • An ASHP drug information reference library, and
  • A $2,000 cash award provided by the ASHP Research and Education Foundation through the Walter Jones Memorial Pharmacy Student Financial Aid Fund.

Arnall also received an APhA Student Leadership Award in 2013, which makes him the first student in School history to win leadership awards from both organizations.
