Download the Eshelman Institute for Innovation 2020 Impact Report

The Eshelman Institute for Innovation was established in 2014 with a $100 million commitment from Dr. Fred Eshelman. The Institute provides grant funding to UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy faculty who are collaborating with scientists, health care providers and educators both inside and outside UNC-Chapel Hill, including academia, industry and foundations.

  • Therapeutic Grants: Supporting projects whose ultimate goal is to develop a drug in the oncology, infectious disease, or neuroscience (including rare disease) space.
  • Digital Health Grants: Supporting projects utilizing digital health, health IT, and software technologies that solve key health problems that improve outcomes, healthcare efficiency, and patient experience.
  • Technology Platform Grants: Supporting development of novel tool(s) with the potential to accelerate drug discovery/development.
