Small Teaching Online: Applying Learning Science in Online Classes

The Office of the Next in Education in conjunction with Synergy Through Collaboration will be hosting a 3-part book club series centered around the book Small Teaching Online: Applying Learning Science in Online Classes by Flower Darby and James M. Lang. This book presents the concept of small teaching and its simplicity centering around small and strategic changes having enormous power to improve student learning. Darby and Lang cover the unique challenges instructors encounter when teaching an online course.
During the last session author Flower Darby will be joining for an informal discussion with participants. Darby is the Assistant Dean of Online and Innovative Pedagogies at Northern Arizona University, teaching for over 23 years in English, Educational Technology, Leadership, Dance, and Pilates. Darby speaks, writes, and consults about teaching and learning through both nationally and internationally. Contact hive@unc.edu for more information.
