CE: Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome Webinar

Neuroleptic malignant syndrome is a rare, but serious adverse event that can quickly become life threatening if not appropriately identified and managed. This session will review common presentations of this disease state, compare and contrast NMS to other similar diseases, review the available drug literature for treatment options, and identify strategies for long term maintenance after resolution of NMS.
Objectives:
- Discuss the background and pathophysiology of Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS)
- Explain the challenges associated with the processs of diagnosis of NMS
- Review the drug therapy options and associated literature for the treatment of NMS
- Outline appropriate interventions for the long term management of psychiatric diseases after resolution of NMS
