CIPhER Seminar – Are You Critical? Exploring Critical Theories and Pharmacy Education

Join CIPhER for Are You Critical? Exploring Critical Theories and Pharmacy Education! This event will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time via Zoom.

Critical Race Theory (CRT) has generated considerable public dialogue and controversy. But, what are critical theories? And how do they intersect with pharmacy education? This session will review basic tenets of common critical theories (e.g., CRT, Feminism, Queer Theory), explore their use in pharmacy education, and discuss how we can be use them to inform and influence pharmacy education.

Learning Objectives: At the end of the program, participants will be able to
– Define critical theory – including Critical Race Theory, Feminism, Queer Theory, and Intersectionality
– Describe the ways in which critical theories intersect with pharmacy education
– Prepare a reflexivity statement that acknowledges our role in criticality

Target Audience: This program is designed for all faculty, preceptors, staff, trainees, and students.

Registration: For non-UNC affiliates, registration is $15.00. (UNC affiliates are faculty, staff, trainees, students, preceptors and residents who currently work for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill or support its students.)
