Description: Stress-related mental health conditions are one of the most talked about challenges in recent years. How can faculty ensure they are promoting student well-being in their courses? While there is no universal way to assure student well-being, strong supportive faculty-student relationships can lead to deeper learning, engagement, intrinsic motivation, and satisfaction. This session will provide practical tips and strategies to support student well-being in the classroom through a Head, Heart, and Hands approach.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
- Describe the role of the educator through the lens of head, hands, and heart
- Compare and contrast student well-being support strategies that can be integrated before, during, and after course closure.
- Construct a course re-design action plan that incorporates 3 strategies to support students’ emotional and social well-being.
Target Audience: This program is designed for faculty, staff, preceptors, post-graduate trainees, and students.
