Description:

Social media was created with the intent to connect users digitally with friends, colleagues, family members, and others geographically near and far. It has transformed the way we connect with people and infiltrated numerous aspects of our daily lives, education and research being two of those spaces. In the session we will explore how to use existing social media platforms to answer educational research questions. We will also investigate how to mimic social media platforms to conduct educational research within your own classroom, course, and institution.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how to use social media platforms to gather data for educational research purposes
  • Identify ways to mimic social media platforms to conduct educational research
