The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy held Student Research Day on March 30, 2012, which gave students in the Clinical Scholars Program and the Honors Program an opportunity to present their work. The School held its annual White Coat Ceremony on March 25, 2012. The white coat is the traditional symbol of health professionals. School Is Second in U.S. News PharmD Rankings

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy maintained its number-two position in U.S. News & World Report’s 2013 ranking of doctor of pharmacy programs. Weeks Promoted to Elizabeth City Assistant Dean Post

Latasha Weeks, PharmD, has accepted the position of regional assistant dean at Elizabeth City for the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Weeks is a clinical assistant professor in the School’s Division of Pharmacy Practice and Experiential Education. Weeks will oversee the School’s satellite campus in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, which was created in 2005 in partnership with Elizabeth City State University. She became the ECSU–based director of the UNC/ECSU Doctor of Pharmacy Partnership Program in 2010. She was formerly a clinical assistant professor at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and completed a community pharmacy residency at UNC-Chapel Hill. … Read more


Phil Rodgers Named Assistant Dean for Pharmacy Practice Partnerships

Phil Rodgers, PharmD, has been named as the assistant dean for pharmacy practice partnerships at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Graduate Student Schuck Receives AHA Fellowship

Bob Schuck, PharmD, a doctoral student at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, has received a predoctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association to support his search for new treatments for vascular inflammation and cardiovascular disease. The two-year fellowship will provide $23,000 per year for Schuck to study eicosanoids, signaling molecules that are metabolized by various enzyme pathways. Eicosanoids control inflammation, which plays an integral role in the development of numerous diseases and conditions, including cardiovascular disease. School Launches PharmD/MBA Dual-Degree Program

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have come together to offer a dual-degree program that will allow pharmacy students to earn a doctor of pharmacy and an MBA in five years. “Given the quality and standing of the two schools involved, this certainly has the potential to be the foremost PharmD/MBA program in the country,” says Robert Blouin, dean of the pharmacy school at UNC.
