This week, the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy climbed to No. 6 in the 2021 QS World University Rankings for the Best World Universities in Pharmacy and Pharmacology – the School’s highest ever ranking from the organization.

The School previously held the No. 9 position in the 2020 rankings and has improved year-over-year in standings.

“This is spectacular news and a true reflection of the hard work being done by our faculty, staff, students and alumni to advance pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences around the world,” said Angela Kashuba, dean of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. “This is also a testament to our international partnership in PharmAlliance with Monash University and University College London, that allows us to combine and develop strong leaders in the health care field.”

PharmAlliance partners Monash ranked No. 2 once again, while UCL ranked No. 7 respectfully.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021 covers 51 disciplines, grouped into five broad subject areas, according to the QS website. The QS World University Rankings by Subject are compiled annually to help prospective students identify the leading universities in a particular subject. Research citations, along with the results of major global surveys of employers and academics are used to rank universities. More information about this year’s methodology is available.

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy holds several other high rankings, including the No. 1 School of Pharmacy in the country by US News & World Report; No. 2 Global University for Pharmacology & Toxicology by US News & World Report; and No. 4 in Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences by Academic Ranking of World Universities.
