Stephanie Kiser

Stephanie Kiser, a clinical assistant professor at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy’s Asheville campus, received an Office of the Provost Engaged Scholarship Award from the Carolina Center for Public Service.

The award recognizes UNC-Chapel Hill faculty and organizations that have performed extraordinary public service and engaged scholarship, or enabled such service by others.

Kiser received the award for leading a sustained partnership between the School’s Asheville campus, Buncombe County Health & Human Services, and the North Carolina Department of Health & Human Services Preparedness Office.

This partnership recruits Pharm.D. students and faculty members to collaboratively design and implement annual disaster preparedness training for mass drug distribution and vaccine administration, focusing on areas of need identified by State and County partners.

Kiser was recognized at the 2019 UNC-Chapel Hill Public Service Awards ceremony, sponsored by the Carolina Center for Public Service, on April 1 at the Carolina Club in the George Watts Hill Alumni Center.

The Office of the Provost Engaged Scholarship Award was established in 2000 by Provost Dick Richardson. It recognizes faculty members and organizations for scholarship in service to the state of North Carolina and responsiveness to community concerns and strong community partnerships. Three Provost Awards are given, one each for engaged teaching, engaged research and engaged partnership.

Kiser is a clinical assistant professor in the Division of Practice Advancement and Clinical Education and serves as the director of rural health and wellness. She received her B.S.Pharm. from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1992.
