Jacqui McLaughlin, Ph.D., an assistant professor at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, has been named director of the School’s Center for Innovative Pharmacy Education and Research.
McLaughlin was appointed to the position after Thomas Angelo, Ed.D., the founding director of CIPhER, retired.
Before her promotion, McLaughlin was the director of education research at CIPhER. She is an assistant professor in the Division of Practice Advancement and Clinical Education, and from 2014 to 2017, she served as the director of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Office of Strategic Planning and Assessment.
CIPhER offers services aimed at enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of pharmacy education practice and research. Its programming is designed to improve the educational and research capabilities of faculty, preceptors, postgraduate fellows, residents and teaching assistants.
In her new role, McLaughlin will be responsible forsupporting the professional development and success of pharmacy educators and education scholars through the use of expert, evidence-based training and research. .
“Dr. McLaughlin’s appointment is in recognition of her valuable contributions to the School’s Educational Renaissance efforts and her expertise and success in educational research and scholarship,” said Interim Dean Dhiren Thakker, Ph.D.
Angelo, a clinical professor emeritus, founded CIPhER in 2017. Before his retirement, he was responsible for overseeing professional development programs and coordinating resources for teaching and curriculum development.
