Gary Yingling is a member of the class of 1962 and is a partner at the law firm Morgan Lewis in Washington, DC, where he focuses on food and drug safety.

Gary Yingling, a 1962 graduate of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, received the UNC Pharmacy Alumni Association’s 2012 Distinguished Service Award at the Pharmacy Foundation of North Carolina’s Annual Foundation Dinner on August 22.

Each year, the UNC Pharmacy Alumni Association selects an alumnus or alumna whose accomplishments and contributions have enhanced the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and the pharmacy profession at the local, state, national, and international levels to receive the Distinguished Service Award.

In addition to his pharmacy degree, Yingling holds a master’s degree from Purdue University and a law degree from Emory University. He is a partner at Morgan Lewis in Washington, DC, where he focuses on food and drug safety.

Yingling is deeply involved with his community, serving as a mentor at his church and as a volunteer at the Strathmore Music Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He also teaches an online course, Federal Regulation of Drugs and Pharmacy, for the University of Florida.

Yingling is a strong supporter of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, giving generously of his time and money. He hosts students interested in food and drug law during rotations. He served on the UNC Pharmacy Alumni Association board of directors before serving three consecutive terms on the Pharmacy Foundation of North Carolina’s board of directors, including two years as chair. In 1996, he established the J. Lee and Helen M. Yingling Scholarship Fund at the Pharmacy Foundation in honor of his mother and father.

The UNC Pharmacy Alumni Association was established in 1980 to support current students and alumni of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy through events and mentoring.
