March 28, 2010
Third-year students at the School received the white coat — the traditional symbol of health professionals — at the White Coat ceremony on March 28 to mark their transition into the final year of the doctor of pharmacy program. The ceremony is a tradition designed to reflect the responsibility, professionalism, and commitment expected of students beginning their final year of the PharmD program.
Howard McLeod, PharmD, director of the School’s Institute for Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy, delivered the keynote speech. Regina Schomberg, president of the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists, also spoke. Faculty members Lisa Dinkins, PharmD; Adam Persky, PhD; Ralph Raasch, PharmD; Christine Walko, PharmD; and Dennis Williams, PharmD, presented the students with their coats.
