About Marsico Hall

Marsico Hall opened in the spring of 2014 and houses research laboratories from both the School of Medicine and the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. The Centers’ labs (~10,000 sq ft) and offices are on the third and fourth floors of the nine-story building. Access to parts of the facility is controlled so appointments are recommended.

Marsico Hall was dedicated on March 27, 2014, and is named in honor of Thomas F. Marsico of Denver, Colorado, for his lifetime contributions to health-care programs at UNC.

What We Do

The Center’s research explores small molecule probes, drug leads, and target validation via proposals from UNC faculty and Center-initiated projects in chromatin chemical biology.

Goals Of The Center

  • Enable interrogation of biology with small molecules resulting in novel insights into human disease with a focus on oncology
  • Create the leading research program in chemical biology of chromatin regulation
  • Provide student and faculty training and enrichment in the areas of expertise within the Center
  • Create intellectual property to support translational drug discovery
  • Establish collaborations and funding base such that the Center is sustainable
