Application Process

Everything detailed below must be completed prior to the deadline for your application to be considered.

Note: Applicants must hold a degree in pharmacy in order to apply.

Interested applicants will need to apply to the University of North Carolina Graduate School for their didactic component.

  • Complete a Graduate School application for admission here
    1. Create an online account
    2. Fill out the application information as follows:
      1. Level of Study: Graduate
      2. Type of Applicant: New degree-seeking applicant
  • Major: Pharmaceutical Sciences
  1. Degree: Master of Science
  2. Select the term of entry
  3. Fill out the applicant information
  4. Fill out educational background
  5. Upload your unofficial transcripts—undergraduate and graduate
  6. Upload a statement of purpose
  7. GREs are waived for this program. Interviews are also only if needed.
  8. Upload a copy of your CV/resume
  • Submit the application and pay the non-refundable $95 application fee
  • Provide three letters of recommendation (PhORCAS recommendations are accepted) using the recommendations link on the online application under “Important Links”
  • Have your graduate and undergraduate school submit an official academic transcript for each school attended. The graduate school will request official transcripts after acceptance into the program only.

Please Note: The GRE waiver applies to applicants possessing a Pharm.D. with a GPA greater than 3.0. Qualified applicants may submit an online application without entering this standardized test score. Although your application status may show “incomplete,” this status will not be held against you at the time of review, and the waiver will be honored if you are offered admission to our M.S. program.

Each program will participate in the match, but each one has a different match number. If you have not done so already, please make sure to register for the National Matching Service offered through ASHP.

Individual interview days will be scheduled at times convenient for applicants and institutions. Each applicant and program will communicate to identify the ideal time to conduct the interview.

Deadline to apply is the Phase I Match deadline.

Funding Opportunities and Resources

You may complete the FAFSA application as soon as it becomes available for the year you wish to enter. You are not required to have an admission decision before completing this application. The priority deadline is March 1 of the year you wish to enroll.
