The Student Senate at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy held its annual live auction on February 17 to raise money for student organizations at the School. This year’s event also included a fundraising effort for the Kristen Burke Award, a scholarship established in honor of the former PharmD student who passed away on October 8, 2010, after a long battle with cancer. To help raise money for the scholarship, twelve people offered to donate their hair to Children with Hairloss if they could raise $1,000 by the end of the live auction. The campaign brought in $1,743 for the Kristen Burke Award and donated about 100 inches of hair, with Dean Bob Blouin manning the shears.

The individuals who donated their hair were: students Elizabeth Alford, Maya Wai, Allison Presnell, Leah Edenfield, Stephanie Craycroft, Maria Bagdasarian, Stephanie Somers, Emily Peedin, Jennifer Petschauer and Janet Lim; clinical associate professor Jo Ellen Rodgers, PharmD; and Amy Charney from Endurance Magazine.
