The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy’s chapter of Phi Delta Chi won the Emory W. Thurston Grand President’s Award at the Phi Delta Chi Grand Council held August 6–10 in Omaha, Nebraska. The Thurston award is the highest honor that any of PDC’s ninety-three active chapters can receive from the national organization.

“I’m so proud of our students,” says clinical associate professor Marcary Marciniak, PharmD, who serves as the group’s faculty adviser. “This award shows that the chapter is already realizing its potential in only three years since it was reactivated in 2010.”

The chapter also placed first in the John D. Grabenstein Leadership Award competition, a subaward of the Thurston.
