Julian Wooten
Julian Wooten is a graduate student in the Division of Molecular Pharmaceutics.

Julian Wooten, a graduate student at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, has been inducted into the Order of the Golden Fleece, the oldest and highest honorary society at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Wooten, the first member of the Order to come from the School, was selected for induction for his dedication and contributions to the issue of HIV/AIDS on campus and throughout the state. He has worked to spread awareness about the issue among students and North Carolinians and has advocated for increased HIV education and testing. He directed a documentary about the state of the HIV/AIDS movement in North Carolina. The film, “Heart to HARRT: The State of the Movement,” was released in early December 2010 for World AIDS Day and focuses on people in North Carolina who are living with the disease.

Wooten, who earned his bachelor’s degree at UNC-Chapel Hill, has also worked to increase diversity on campus, including through his role as project coordinator for the School’s Carolina Pharmacy Leadership, Excellence, And Development program and as diversity advocate for the Graduate and Professional Student Federation.

The Order of the Golden Fleece was founded in 1904 to unite student leaders at the University to find swift resolution to University problems and to improve campus life. It selects its members based on service to the University as reflected in scholarship, motivation, creativity, loyalty, and leadership in academic and extracurricular pursuits.
