Yu Zhao received her Ph.D. in Natural Medicinal Chemistry from Kunming Institute of Botany, at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She was appointed as an assistant professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2007 and was promoted to associate professor in 2009. Zhao joined the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2012 as a visiting scholar and was appointed as a research associate in 2014. She has published approximately 40 articles in the field of phytochemistry, organic chemistry, and medicinal chemistry.
Zhao’s research focuses on natural products inspired drug discovery and development through a modern natural medicinal chemistry approach. Zhao’s research combines phytochemistry, organic chemistry, biology and innovative drug design technologies.
