Chapel Hill-based 2018 independent pharmacy ownership residents Cody Puzinski, Jessica Wine, Kayla Harris and Abhijit Gudivada.

The PGY1 Independent Pharmacy Ownership Residency at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy welcomed its third class of residents for 2018–19.

The program trains Doctor of Pharmacy graduates to be owners of independent community pharmacies. The residents receive a practical business education to complement their pharmacy education.

Seven pharmacy residents will participate in the program, up from four a year ago. The residents will work for a year in an independently owned pharmacy with multiple preceptors.

Joel Arceo

Joel Arceo, Pharm.D., is a graduate of the Chapman University School of Pharmacy in Irvine, California. As a pharmacy student, Arceo worked as an intern pharmacist at CVS Pharmacy. He held clerkships in managed care, acute care and business leadership in 2018 working in hospital and distribution settings. Arceo will work at Springfield Pharmacy in Springfield, Pennsylvania.

 

 

Brittany Carney

Brittany Carney, Pharm.D., is a graduate of the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She worked professionally with Mainline Pharmacy and Westmont Rexall Drug Store as a pharmacy intern. Carney has clerkship experience in pharmacy, long-term care and medical center settings in the past year. She will work as a resident at Mainline Pharmacy in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania.

 

 

Abhijit Gudivada

Abhijit Gudivada, Pharm.D., is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy in Kingston, Rhode Island. Gudivada worked as a pharmacy intern at Southwick Pharmacy and Westown Pharmacy. He held independent community, general medicine and clinical corporate management pharmacy clerkships in 2018. Gudivada will work at D-Rex Pharmacy in Jonesville, North Carolina.

 

 

Kayla Harris

Kayla Harris, Pharm.D., is a graduate of the Mercer University College of Pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia. She worked a pharmacy intern with Kaiser Permanente while earning her Pharm.D. Harris held clerkships in critical care, managed care and pain management pharmacy this year. As a resident, she will work at Central Pharmacy in Durham, North Carolina.

 

 

Elissa Muller

Elissa Muller, Pharm.D., is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Muller held an internship and pharmacy technician position at Lenox Pharmacy. She had clerkships in indirect patient care, community pharmacy and acute patient care this past year. She will undertake her residency at Sunray Drugs in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

 

 

Cody Puzinski

Cody Puzinski, Pharm.D., is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy in Storrs, Connecticut. He has experience working with independent pharmacies in Connecticut and New York. In 2018, Puzinski has held clerkships in independent community pharmacy, hospice care and institutional pharmacy. He will work as a resident at Lumberton Drug in Lumberton, North Carolina.

 

 

Jessica Wine

Jessica Wine, Pharm.D., is a graduate of the Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy in Clinton, South Carolina. Wine worked as a pharmacy intern at Medicine Shoppe in Maxton, North Carolina. She worked in ambulatory care, hospital pharmacy administration and intensive coronary care clerkships in 2018. Wine will work as a resident at Futrell Pharmacy in Jackson, North Carolina.
