The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is ranked second among the nation’s pharmacy schools in research funding with nearly $27 million.

For the seventh of the last eight years, the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy ranks second among the nation’s pharmacy schools in total research funding at nearly $27 million, according to data compiled by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.

The School had 49 funded investigators who received $26,896,175 in awards from all funding sources in fiscal year 2015. The School’s research funding has more than doubled since 2007, the last time the School was ranked lower than number three.

“The growth and strength of our research enterprise reflects our commitment to accelerating needed changes in health care, education and research,” said Bob Blouin, Pharm.D., dean of the School and the Vaughn and Nancy Bryson Distinguished Professor. “Our research results not only new discoveries, new treatments and new policies but also in economic growth for North Carolina, opportunities for our students and better health for our citizens.”

AACP’s faculty research grant institutional rankings provide aggregated pharmacy grant data by institution for NIH and other federal, nonfederal and total research grants. The data was collected from November 2015 to January 2016 and reflects only those schools for which information is submitted to AACP.
