April 24, 2015
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy held its 2015 annual Awards Ceremony April 19 at the Rizzo Center.
Casey Emerson, the School’s former director of education technology, is this year’s winner of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Distinguished Service Award. This award is given to an exceptional supporter of the School’s service and outreach initiatives whose accomplishments and contributions have enhanced the School and the profession of pharmacy at the local, state, national, or international level.
This year’s Samuel Burrus Award for Community Service was won by Andrew Beaty. This award is presented to members of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy family who exhibit outstanding and unselfish civic, community, or church volunteer service provided outside the scope of regular pharmacy practice. One award is presented to a student currently enrolled in the School. The second is awarded to an alumnus of the School or to a husband-and-wife team, at least one of whom is an alumnus.
Clinical Professor Robert Dupuis, PharmD, was chosen as the School’s 2015 overall instructor of the year. Dupuis teaches and coordinates courses in immunology, nephrology pharmacotherapeutics, and clinical pharmacokinetics. He has been recognized as instructor or preceptor of the year nine times since 1987—including being named the 2013 PY2 instructor of the year—and received awards for excellence in teaching from the School in 2006 and 2007.
