Fall 2020 ExamSoft Training

 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2020, Via Zoom

**Members from OSPA and Education Technology will be available for a drop-in session from 9:30 am – 10:00 am to troubleshoot any issues related to ExamSoft access.

Do you use ExamSoft for your courses? Are you looking for strategies on proctoring an ExamSoft assessment virtually? Would you like to know more about ExamSoft’s basic functionality? This program will provide you with tools and strategies for using or optimizing your ExamSoft experience. Participants will learn about ExamSoft access options, formatting, uploading, and grouping assessment items, creating assessments, reporting options, and proctoring in a virtual environment.

Agenda:

  • 9:30 am – 10:00 am (Leads: Christina Pomykal and Clinton Miller): Drop-in session to troubleshoot access issues; no content will be discussed during this time
  • 10:00 am – 10:45 am (Leads: Amanda Corbett and Jason Martin): Virtual proctoring strategies
  • 10:45 am – 12:00 pm (Lead: Scott Singleton): ExamSoft basic training
    • Creating questions
    • Creating assessments
    • Navigating the ExamSoft portal
    • Analyzing, adjusting, and releasing exam taker results
    • Self-study resources

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify strategies for proctoring an ExamSoft assessment administered in a virtual setting
  2. Outline ExamSoft fundamentals related to access, assessment items, assessment options, and reporting
  3. Demonstrate how to interpret psychometrics related to item and assessment performance
  4. Identify additional ExamSoft resources

Presenter Information

 Amanda Corbett, PharmD

Associate Professor & Assistant Dean for Professional Curriculum

Amanda H. Corbett, PharmD, BCPS, FCCP is the Assistant Dean for Professional Curriculum, the Associate Director of Global Engagement, and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy and the Global Pharmacology Coordinator for the UNC Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases.  Dr. Corbett is board certified in pharmacotherapy and is a fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.  She received a B.S. in Chemistry at the University of North Carolina in 1994 and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Campbell University in 1999.  Subsequently, she completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and ID Specialty Residency and HIV Pharmacology Fellowship at the University of North Carolina.  At completion of her training in 2003, she joined the faculty at the UNC Eshleman School of Pharmacy. Her contributions as a faculty member have been in teaching (didactic and experiential), research (infectious diseases pharmacology), and clinical practice. Her current contributions are in the Doctor of Pharmacy Curriculum, Global Engagement and Integrative Medicine where she is completing a 2-year fellowship training program.  She has published more than 90 peer reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, reviews, and book chapters and presented to more than 65 national and international audiences. In addition, she is proudly a yoga teacher and Reiki master and a student of herbal medicine.

Jason Martin, MA

Director of Educational Technology

Jason Martin, M.A is the Director of Educational Technology for the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Jason joined the School in 2016 as the Technology Operations Manager. He received his B.S.C. (2004) and M.A. (2005) from Ohio University in Athens, OH. Jason’s higher education experience prior to coming to the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy includes positions at Ohio University, Aiken Technical College, St. Peter’s University, and Seattle University. Jason co-chaired and wrote the Physical Facilities and Educational Resources response for the School’s 2020 accreditation. He also chairs the FAO committee and serves on the Technology Governance Committee.

Scott Singleton, PhD

Associate Professor

Scott Singleton, PhD received his B.A. in chemistry and biology from Trinity University (San Antonio, TX). He completed his scientific training in the broad area of chemical biology, first earning his PhD in bio-organic chemistry from Caltech and then training as 2-year NSF postdoctoral fellow in enzymology. His NIH-funded research group developed chemical approaches to mechanistic probing and inhibition of DNA metabolism, with an emphasis on the roles of recombination and repair in antibiotic resistance. He licensed small molecule drug candidates to the UNC spin-out biotechnology company Synereca Pharmaceuticals. He served as the CSO of the antibiotic discovery company from 2009–2015. In addition, he has served as secretary of the School’s faculty, director of graduate studies for the School’s graduate programs in pharmaceutical sciences, and executive director of The Academy from 2014-2017. He co-chaired the School’s Curriculum Transformation steering and oversight committees from 2012-2018. He currently serves on the Curriculum and Assessment Committee and co-chairs the Foundational Sciences Course Stream. He is an award-winning teacher of organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. He currently teaches the Molecular Foundations of Drug Action course and serves as a facilitator for the Pharmacotherapy: Integrated course sequence.
