Rational Engineering of Advanced Drug Delivery Systems with Dr. Owen Fenton, Ph.D

November 14, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Center for Nanotechnology in Drug Delivery and the Carolina Cancer Nanotechnology Training Program are pleased to present “Rational Engineering of Advanced Drug Delivery Systems” with Dr. Owen Fenton, Ph.D. This event will be held Monday, November 14 from 11:00 a.m – 12:00 p.m. After the presentation there will be a Q&A.

Many next-generation drugs require delivery systems to improve their therapeutic potential. In this seminar, we describe how molecular engineering approaches can create drug delivery systems for next-generation therapies including RNAs, recruitment factors, and cell-based therapies. In undertaking this approach, this seminar aims to describe drug delivery systems for some next-generation drugs while more broadly highlighting the utility of molecular engineering approaches in the drug delivery sciences.

Owen Fenton received his BSc in 2010 from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. He then began his graduate training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he received his MSc in 2012, his PhD in 2016, and completed his postdoctoral training in 2020. His current research interests leverage molecular engineering approaches to improve the delivery of RNA-based medicines.
