A ‘TV Guide’ to Curriculum Transformation: Highlights of the UCSF Experience
Sharon L. Youmans, PharmD, MPH, BCPS, FAPhA
Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Vice Dean
University of California San Francisco School of Pharmacy
1:00-2:30 PM on Friday, Feburary 9, 2018, in Beard 200 and Karpen 103
In her highly interactive CIPhER Visiting Scholar presentation, Dr. Sharon Youmans will reference popular TV shows to illustrate the dramatic curriculum transformation process now underway at the University of California, San Francisco School of Pharmacy. She will share perspectives, approaches, and lessons learned from her experiences leading UCSF’s PharmD redesign. Her session will focus on several “trending topics”, including: Moving from a 4-year to a 3-year calendar; Pass/No Pass vs. letter grading options; the total integration of basic, clinical, social and behavioral science content; developing an inquiry curriculum thread organized by organ systems or disease conditions; and assessing and monitoring student learning and progress. This seminar provides an exceptional opportunity for the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy community to compare and contrast our recent curriculum transformation experiences with those of another leading school – and to share our experiences and lessons learned with Dr. Youmans, as well.
