This fellowship is part of the DPET fellowship program.

  • Length: Two to three years

This two- to three-year fellowship is intended to develop independent research skills for a career in academics. Experience with clinical trials (phase I pharmacokinetic, multicenter phase II-IV), preclinical model systems (cell culture), analytical techniques (HPLC) and molecular techniques (Westerns and PRC) are available. Fellowship activities include: protocol development with IRB submission, data collection and analysis with pharmacokinetic and/or statistics programs, and oral and written presentation. Coursework in advanced statistics, computer analysis, and research design is available.

The fellow will be appointed as a clinical instructor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice, with some teaching effects of malignancies, antineoplastics, and supportive care agents on CYP activity, the ability of in-vitro cell culture systems to predict in-vivo CYP interactions, pharmacokinetics of antineoplastic agents, and antiemetic research. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is an NCI-certified comprehensive cancer center.
