This fellowship is sponsored in collaboration with Allucent (formerly Nuventra) and is part of the DPET fellowship program.

  • Length: Two years

This postdoctoral fellowship program enables fellows to gain research expertise in drug development, quantitative pharmacology, and translational research while preparing them for careers as clinical pharmacologists, or clinical pharmacokineticists in an industrial, academic, or regulatory setting.

The ideal candidate should have a Pharm.D., Ph.D., or M.D. and possess strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, good organizational abilities, and evidence of leadership, independence, and team work. A background in pharmacokinetics is preferred.

Program Description

First Year

Fellows will participate in clinical pharmacology and drug-transport and metabolism studies with faculty at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Each fellow will design, initiate, conduct, and analyze various research projects as part of the learning experience.

Fellows will also enroll in advanced courses on PK/PD and clinical research methods and may attend additional courses such as biostatistics, advanced therapeutics, drug metabolism, and molecular biology.

Second Year

Fellows will work at Allucent, applying state-of-the-art quantitative methodologies to drug development, such as conventional and population PK and PD analyses, exposure-response, and clinical trial simulations. Fellows will contribute to the design and analysis of first-time-in-human, proof-of-concept, drug-drug interaction, or other clinical pharmacology studies. They will use advanced techniques as they participate in modeling and simulation efforts for quantitative decision making.
