School faculty honored with AACP 2022 Award for Excellence in Assessment

UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy faculty members Kathryn Fuller, Pharm.D., Adam Persky, Ph.D., and Nicole Pinelli Reitter, Pharm.D., are recipients of this year’s Award for Excellence in Assessment from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). The award acknowledges an assessment initiative or project that improves a Pharm.D. program through continuous quality improvement, according to the AACP website. The team’s entry focused on their Redesigned Entrustable Professional Activity Assessments in Pharmacy Practice Experiences which were implemented into Experiential Education at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Sarah Anne Howard receives National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship

Sarah Anne Howard, a Ph.D. candidate at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, is a recipient of the Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation. School, Western North Carolina community partners receive funding from Dogwood Health Trust to create online educational resource for teens about vaping, substance misuse

In the United States, more than 27 percent of high school students and 10 percent of middle school students use vaping products, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In addition, substance misuse (e.g. alcohol, drugs) is a major concern among teens in the United States. “Vaping and substance use is a major health problem for teens across the country and often there are not resources available for teens. Master’s program student receives ASHP Pharmacy Resident Research Grant

PharmD candidate Neel Swamy to participate in CDC Student Experiential Program

Pharm.D student Neel Swamy (Class of ’23) has been selected to participate in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Pharmacy Student Experiential Program for the 2022-23 academic year.
