Global Pharmacy Scholars make an impact in Ethiopia

Earlier this year, a team of faculty and students from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy traveled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with three goals in mind—to launch Ethiopia’s first pediatric cancer registry, develop a therapeutic drug monitoring program and establish chemotherapy safe handling policies.   It was part of the School’s Global Pharmacy Scholars (GPS) program, which includes Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience sites in Australia, Honduras, Ethiopia, India, Japan, Malawi, Moldova, the United Kingdom and Zambia.  “The GPS program allows our students to broaden their global perspectives, as they get to observe how pharmacy is practiced in another country, learn about different … Read more


Monash University students research with CIPhER

Five pharmacy students from Monash University in Australia, a PharmAlliance partner, recently completed their eight-week visiting scholars program with the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy’s Center for Innovative Pharmacy Education and Research (CIPhER).  Each visiting scholar is a fourth-year honor student in Monash’s Master of Pharmacy program. They will complete the master’s course after their upcoming fifth-year internship. Building local and global pharmacy leaders

Caroline Welles Sasser ‘17, Pharm.D., had an interest in global pharmacy from the beginning. University of Eastern Finland visits UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy campuses

The Office of Global Engagement in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy hosted faculty from the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) School of Pharmacy earlier this month. School maintains No. 7 spot in QS World University Rankings

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is ranked No. 7 for the second year in a row in the 2023 QS World University Rankings for the Best World Universities in Pharmacy and Pharmacology. Delegation from Moldova visits UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy

Earlier this year, a Moldova delegation met with various faculty and staff from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy to learn more about pharmacy education and research in the United States and to discuss future areas for collaboration.  The delegation included seven faculty members from the Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Chișinău, Moldova. Moldovan Ambassador to U.S. Visits UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy

UNC-Chapel Hill hosted Moldovan Ambassador to the U.S. Cristina Balan on March 29 as part of a partnership between the Eastern European country and the state of North Carolina. At UNC, Balan visited the Eshelman School of Pharmacy, Gillings School of Global Public Health, Adams School of Dentistry, and Center for Slavic, Eurasian and East European Studies. UNC Chapel Hill Ranked 10th in the World for Pharmacy and Pharmacology

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was ranked 10th in the world for pharmacy and pharmacology in the recently released 2019 QS World University Rankings. UNC was ranked 21st in the same category in 2018. Among American universities, Carolina’s pharmacy and pharmacology programs rank fourth overall. Paavo Honkakoski Receives Keohane Professorship

Paavo Honkakoski, Ph.D., a global expert on nuclear receptors, will return to the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy as a recipient of the Nannerl O. Keohane Distinguished Visiting Professorship in 2019-20. Honkakoski is a professor of Biopharmacy at the School of Pharmacy and Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Eastern Finland.
