Research in Education and Practice Symposium

The Research in Education and Practice Symposium (REPS) will provide an engaging opportunity for residents, fellows, and postgraduate pharmacy trainees to present their research and projects. Trainees will get the chance to receive high-level feedback on their research and to network with other practitioners across the region.

All speaker presentation materials and CE packets are due no later than April 29, 2024.

Objectives

Upon completion of this knowledge-based activity the participant should be able to:

  • Describe major research projects conducted by pharmacy trainees.
  • Identify ways that trainees can further develop their research methodology and manuscript writing skills.
  • Outline useful professional information that trainees can use in the progression of their careers.
  • Develop preceptor skills that allow enhanced innovation in education and research.

This program is intended for pharmacy residents, fellows, graduate students, preceptors, directors, and faculty members.

The University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. To receive credit, attendance must be acknowledged at the registration desk upon arrival at the program. Statements of credit will be uploaded to CPE Monitor within 4-6 weeks of completion of program. Participants will have access to print CE certificates from their CPE profile under CPE Monitor.

Guidelines for abstracts

Abstracts should include the following information:

  1. Presentation Title
  2. Author(s)
  3. Practice Site
  4. Background Information
  5. Objective
  6. Methods
  7. Preliminary Results
  8. Conclusion

Please note, there is not a required minimum/maximum word count for the abstract.  Abstracts are to be uploaded with all presenter materials by April 29th.

Guidelines for podium presentations

  1. For those presenting in-person you will be able to upload your slides prior to your presentation. For those presenting virtually, you will share your screen during your presentation with your slides.
  2. Concurrent sessions will run during the presentation timeslots. Presentations are scheduled every 20 minutes:
    • presentations should last no more than 12 minutes
    • 3 minutes will be allowed for Q&A
    • 5 minutes is provided for room changes (both virtual and in-person) after each session and to make it possible for attendees to easily get to the next presentation
  3. Each Presentation should contain the following elements:
    • Title slide
    • Disclosure Statement slide
    • Background slide(s)
    • Objectives slide(s)
    • Methodology slide(s)
    • Results slide(s)
    • Conclusion slide(s) which include the impact and next step of these results
    • Acknowledgement slide(s)
    • Questions slide (with presenter’s contact information)
  4. Two evaluators will be assigned to each presentation. The designated evaluators will meet briefly with each presenter after the morning or afternoon session to provide feedback
