Established in 1922, the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society encourages and recognizes excellence in intellectual achievement and advocates critical inquiry in all aspects of pharmacy.
The Rho Chi Xi Chapter in Chapel Hill held its annual induction ceremony at the Carolina Inn on March 11, welcoming 26 second year Pharm.D. students into the prestigious organization. The keynote speaker was Pete Koval, Pharm.D., director of pharmacy education at Piedmont Area Health Education Center and associate professor of clinical education at UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy.
“Induction into Rho Chi is an honor, and I am proud to celebrate this achievement with my fellow inductees,” said Sara Jubas, Pharm.D. candidate and newly inducted Rho Chi Xi Chapter president.
The society works to encourage and recognize intellectual achievement; contribute to the development of intellectual leaders; promote the highest ethical standards; and foster collaboration.
Membership is a privilege for those who distinguish themselves by their academic and professional achievements and who aspire to the mission and vision of the society. It inducts students whose GPA ranks within the top 20% of their cohort.
“Being inducted into Rho Chi is truly not just a personal achievement, but an achievement for everyone in my life who has helped me get here. As a part of Rho Chi, I look forward to repaying the favor to current and future pharmacy students,” said Mayur Krishna, Pharm.D. candidate.
Members may be elected as professional or graduate students in pharmacy, as members of faculties of schools and colleges of pharmacy, as alumni who distinguish themselves in the profession, or as honorary members by special action of the Society’s Executive Council.
“Induction into the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society represents how much these students, who should be proud of this significant achievement, have accomplished. To others, especially in pharmacy, who see this recognition understand its significance. To the inductees, it also represents not only their own efforts, but the support they’ve received from those around them,” said Robert Dupuis, Pharm.D., professor and vice department chair for the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics and Xi Chapter faculty advisor.
