The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is thrilled to announce Caroline Sasser, Pharm.D., BCPS, has been hired as its first PharmAlliance Program Coordinator, effective Aug. 16.
PharmAlliance is a unique international partnership between three top-10 global leaders in pharmacy education – the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Monash University, and University College London.
“Throughout my fellowship, I’ve come to understand just how special this partnership is. The work PharmAlliance does is at the scale and scope I had only hoped to be involved with much later in my career. I’m overjoyed, grateful, and very proud to stay on with PharmAlliance,” Sasser said.
PharmAlliance partners work collaboratively to inspire and train tomorrow’s researchers, professional leaders and practitioners. PharmAlliance provides a community platform for working together on big ideas with the goal to transform pharmacy education, practice, and research worldwide. Innovative ideas that have the potential to impact institutions, the profession, and society that could not be pursued effectively by one institution alone are collectively pursued by the PharmAlliance institutions.
“This new role will allow us to take the PharmAlliance partnership to another level of global impact as we work together across schools on a new set of strategic priorities,” said David Steeb, Pharm.D., MPH, Director of Global Engagement at the School.
As PharmAlliance coordinator, under direction of the Deans/Directors of PharmAlliance institutions, Sasser will assume a variety of duties related to the execution and growth of PharmAlliance initiatives and events, educational models, and collaborations.
PharmAlliance activities and initiatives include developing and expanding joint educational offerings (e.g., Master’s degrees), enhancing faculty research collaborations in key areas (e.g., global health, neuroscience, mental health, regulatory science, etc.), and maximizing student opportunities (e.g., exchange placements, networking, internships, etc.).
Sasser will oversee direction and directly contribute to progress of PharmAlliance strategic priorities and initiatives in education, practice and research. Additionally, she will be responsible for strengthening and growing collaboration opportunities and impact within the partnership.
Sasser previously served as the PharmAlliance Fellow in collaboration with the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Monash University in Australia.
