This week, the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy moved up to No. 9 in the 2020 QS World University Rankings for the Best World Universities in Pharmacy and Pharmacology.
The School previously held the No. 10 position in the 2019 rankings.
“We are thrilled to hear about this improvement in standings. This is a true testament to the hard work being performed by our faculty, staff and students who are daily collaborating around the globe,” said Angela Kashuba, dean of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. “Our international partnership in PharmAlliance with Monash University and University College London, as well as our Global Pharmacy Scholars program, and other global initiatives are helping us to develop tomorrow’s healthcare leaders.”
The QS World University Rankings by Subject ranks the world’s top universities in individual subject areas and covers 48 subjects, according to the QS website. The goal of the rankings is to help prospective students identify the world’s leading schools in their chosen field of study.
Subject rankings are compiled using four sources. The first two sources are QS’s global surveys of academics and employers, which assess an institution’s international reputation in each subject. The second two indicators evaluate research impact based on research citations per paper and h-index (a way of measuring both productivity and impact of published work) in the relevant subject.
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy holds several other high rankings, including US News & World Report No. 1 School of Pharmacy, US News & World Report No. 2 Global University for Pharmacology & Toxicology, and Academic Ranking of World Universities No. 5 in Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences.
