The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) recently reaccredited the Continuing Education (CE) Office at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy for another six years.

The CE Office provides professional educational programs for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. The offerings range from a live classroom setting to distance learning and home study options. The programs allow practicing pharmacists to earn the 15 hours of continuing education credits required by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy. The office also provides certifications in various aspects of pharmacy, including immunization delivery, mental health first aid and diabetes care.

“This allows the School to continue to build and educate pharmacists across the state with the most current ideas and practices in the pharmaceutical industry, so they can stay competitive and informed,” said Austin Companion, program manager for the CE Office. “We’re here to engage and impact UNC students even after they’ve left the School.”

While the CE Office is a useful resource for the School’s Pharm.D. graduates to stay up-to-date in the field, the programs are not exclusive to UNC alumni. Other pharmacy programs across the state and country also offer their own continuing education programs, but Companion said the UNC program is highly involved with its students and can offer a variety of classes because of its state and national partnerships.
