Aaron Anselmo, Ph.D.

Aaron Anselmo, Ph.D., has been named the 2018 Young Investigator Award winner by Pharmaceutics.

Anselmo is an assistant professor in the Division of Pharmacoengineering and Molecular Pharmaceutics at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy.

His research focuses on developing pharmaceutics-based approaches to deliver therapeutic bacteria, combining pharmaceutics fundamentals to inform the engineering of new delivery systems for the microbiota. This work overlaps microbiology and microbe ecology, pharmaceutics, engineering and drug delivery to develop new strategies for treating microbiota-related disorders.

Anselmo received his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Anselmo joined the School in 2017 after postdoctoral research at the David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Pharmaceutics (ISSN 1999-4923; CODEN: PHARK5) is a peer-reviewed open access journal on the science and technology of pharmaceutics and biopharmaceutics published monthly online by MDPI. The Young Investigator Award is accompanied by a prize of 2,000 Swiss Francs.
