Xiao “Ashley” Qi, M.B.A., has joined the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy as the associate director of China initiatives. She will support the School’s efforts to find and evaluate opportunities to establish research and pharmacy-education partnerships in China.

Qi’s primary focus will be leading the development of the School’s relationships and opportunities in Asia with a specific focus on China. She reports to Stephen Eckel, Pharm.D., M.H.A., associate dean for global engagement, and will work with a broad representation of people and functions, not only within the School but across our campus as a whole, Eckel said.

Qi earned her Master of Business Administration from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mass media and international culture from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China.

She began her career with Pfizer China Hisun-Pfizer in Hangzhou and Shanghai, China, where she spent five years in sales and product management working in the areas of oncology and anti-infectives. She then served as a national brand manager for the bone disease franchise of Novartis in China and as a pre-MBA intern in McKinsey & Company’s pharmaceutical and medical device sector in Shanghai.
